Multiple Championship Winning Historic Sports 2000 Tiga SC84, NOW SOLD

A roomy, easy to drive, well-maintained, fast, reliable and
attractive Historic Sports 2000 for a reasonable price.

The greatest challenge buying ANY of these cars is
finding one with the DEMONSTRATED capability of running up front.

There are always cars for sale, but few that won't be the limiting factor for most drivers.

This car has a continuous racing history along with an extraordinary podium and win rate.
Truly one of the great examples out there and rare to come up for sale

This car is one of the very few, out of hundreds that have raced at VIR, to post laps at 1:59 or less.

History

Ownership History

Continuous history since new. Sold new to 24 Hours of Daytona class winner Dick Greer by company owner Howden Ganley 1984, fitted car cover and instructions included. Sold to John Green 1998, winner ACRL Pro Series B in 1999. Sold to Pete MacNamara 2000, Tom Robertson 2001, Tommy Thompson 2002, Jeff Johnson in 2004 and to me, current owner, in 2007. I have put the car on the pole, won SCCA, historic and in NASA competition at VIR, Summit Point, Lime Rock Park, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Circuit of The Americas, Roebling Road Raceway, New Jersey Motorsports Park and Carolina Motorsports Park. Track Records for SCCA at NJMP and CMP, NASA Track Record at VIRginia International Raceway.

Selected service History

Only the best. 5 1/2" clutch, FC camshaft, super low-time (90 minutes) recent $8500 Quicksilver. Remote reservoir Fox shock absorbers (last service by ANZE 2016), fuel cell replacement in 2007 and recertification 2018, new front brake rotors, pads and hat hardware, new floor in 2016, new nose in 2018. Fresh Quicksilver stored and pickled properly between the last two races with less than ninety minutes run time since the rebuild. Most recent race, VDCA VIR April 2024.

Ready to race NOW. New brake rotors, brake hat fixing aviation hardware all around included but not fitted. Tall man roll bar, 15 gear sets and new Tiga and Ronnie Mong spares included.

DESIGN

Perhaps one of the best outboard suspension Sports 2000 designs ever made, the Tiga SC84 was the ultimate refinement of Tiga's championship winning designs dating from 1978 in the UK and 1980 in the US. With centerlock wheel fitment and dual roller bearing design, the corners were much more robust and reliable.

The newer generation SC85, with it's honeycomb chassis and inboard rear suspension, was never quite as quick at the SC84 versions. This car is easy to drive fast, comfortable and roomy and capable of running in front of most of the newer cars. You can slide it without fear of spinning, as it gives great confidence to the driver.

Spares

No junk here! More than a fifteen gear sets, many of them strengthened Hewland. Three sets wheels (2 x Gotti originals, one with Hoosier wets, one with low-time Avon slicks, 1 x Jongbloed multi-piece set new in 2004 with two-session Avon slicks date code 2024), two new lower a-arms from Ron Mong, nose box from Speed Unlimited Racing, new Tiga cast aluminum motor mounts, many new suspension tabs, new hardware, plumbing and one new splitter, new brake pads (performance friction) and caliper seals, oil filters, new gaskets, Braille lightweight battery. Spare used starter pieces and a spare used long block with pan and oil pump, condition unknown, included in the sale. Tall man roll bar included.

Major Results

John Green, 1999 ACRL Pro Series Class B Champion, Peter Krause, five-time NAC-SRCC/VS2NA Historic National and Regional Champion, track records at many, many tracks and over a hundred class wins at SVRA, VDCA, VRG, NASA-MA at most East Coast tracks.

Bonus For Buyer

Depending on scheduling, I can include one day of complementary coaching at discounted cost at VIR for the new buyer. All data, set up information, configuration and tips and tricks learned from running this car very successfully are included in the sale. My goal is to have the new buyer pleased with the value of their purchase.

I have a great track record being able to provide that, having raced and sold more than five dozen Sports 2000 cars in the last twenty-two years.

Bottom line, this car was the one I kept..
